Barbecue Baked Beans (Refined Sugar Free!)
Serving size: 4-5
2x 15oz can canellini white beans
1x 15oz can butter beans
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup chopped white onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 tsp granulated garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 cup organic barbecue sauce
1 Tbsp liquid aminos
1 15oz can tomato sauce
4 Tbsp maple syrup
Salt + pepper to taste
In a medium-large sized sauce pan, add olive oil, onion, and bell pepper. Add salt and pepper to taste. Sauté over low-medium heat until tender.
Next, add remainder of ingredients: beans (drained, not rinsed), garlic powder, onion powder, barbecue sauce, liquid aminos, tomato sauce, maple syrup, and additional pinch of salt/pepper to taste.
Stir with spatula occasionally and turn heat to medium, high.
Bring beans to boil and let boil (while stirring consistently) for 60 seconds, then reducing heat to simmer.
Let beans simmer for 30 minutes, uncovered; stirring occasionally.
