Top 7 Tasty Meat Substitutes

Did you know that it’s important for us to incorporate one day a week without meat?

Over consumption of meat is far too common in America and, unfortunately, most people don’t even realize it. This excessive indulgence is no minimal matter. In fact, it can lead to several severe health endangerments including:

  • Heart Disease

  • Pancreatic Cancer

  • Kidney Disease

  • Osteoporosis

Folks, hear me out. It is important to balance your diet, ensuring that you aren’t deriving the entirety of your protein intake from meat. Throughout the week, implement plant-based nutrients into your diet. When you do eat meat, make sure it true organic form. Additionally, if you can buy local.. do it.

On a side note… we do eat meat! Just not everyday. My husband is TOTALLY Mr. Alaska, meaning he loves hunting, fishing, hiking, you name it, we do it. We get our meat from the wild, the absolute best way to ensure your meat is natural, wholesome, and literally from God’s creation! Our family loves moose, caribou, and elk! (Remember... everything in moderation.)

Here are some of my top recommendations for meat substitutes. Get creative. You'll be surprised at what you'll be able to create... meatless!

  1. Black Beans- swap out your hamburger for black beans. Make patties with them, or even make spaghetti and bean balls instead of meat balls! Yummy!

  2. Lentils- lentils can be swapped out for hamburger just like black beans.

  3. Mushrooms- Portabella Mushrooms are my favorite! They make a great alternative and fill you up.

  4. Vegetables- Add lots of different vegetables to your meals, and you won’t miss the meat!

  5. Sweet Potatoes- Sweet potatoes are much healthier than potatoes and are very filling and delicious!

  6. Tofu- Tofu is made from soybean, and while some of you might wince at the sounds of this, its all in the way you season it!

  7. Eggs- Eggs are full of protein, and are great for snacking on post-workout.
