Well girls, we’re here!! How is it that we’re already at the end of 2019? I don’t know about you but to me I feel like this year has absolutely flown by! I think it is so important for us to take time at the end of every year to reflect on the last 365 days...The good, the bad, and the ugly. Today, I’ll be sharing my most significant moments from 2018 and highly encourage you to do the same for your year!
So here’s my TELL ALL! The Good, The bad, and The Ugly!
Highlight #1: The birth of Brody James Blossom
Okay you Mommas KNOW this one was going to be on the list! Many of you know that Brian and I struggled for over 2.5 years with infertility. It was a bumpy journey (which you can read more about here!) but turned out exactly how God intended! Brody James was born in January and our lives have never been the same. He is the sweetest, most social little boy and truly lights up any room he is in! I have longed for the day I would become a Mother and to actually embrace and experience this has been the greatest gift of my life!
Hard #1: Death in the family
A few months after Brody was born we did have a death in the family. For our family’s privacy, I won’t share more than the realness and rawness that comes with the circle of life.
Highlight #2: We bought our first home… it’s GORGEOUS!
I would NEVER recommend buying a house and going into labor on the same day. LOL. Why? Because we did! We had been house searching for over 2 years and the PERFECT house came on the market. After 48 hours, we were signing our names and cranking out decorating ideas :)! Walking into a home that had an open concept, was in a great neighborhood, needed NO updates, had a big back yard, a fireplace, and the “welcome home feeling” was what we were looking for. Home is my happy place and the HQ of BMAB so creating a life-giving space that is inspiring, cozy, and welcoming has been my focus! Oh, and it also has a great kitchen with a big serving bar~perfect for serving up those gooey early morning cinnamon rolls :)! (Psst… have you made BMAB’s gluten free cinnamon rolls?! To die for! The recipe is inside the abundant Motherhood Club! Learn more here and get to baking, sister!)
Hard #2: Postpartum Anxiety
UGH! This one! You Mommas know I’ve had my fair share of stress and anxiety. In fact, I created an entire program called Grounded + Glowing to help Mommas like yourself learn the tools + strategy to improve your mental health and y’all, I’ve had to rely on the teachings that I teach you ten-fold. After Brody was born I found myself getting anxiety attacks out of the blue. Every time he would cry, my heart started to race and an intense round of what felt like electrical energy would work its way through my body. All the symptoms I had experienced from my past struggle of anxiety were back. Thankfully, I am much, much better now and have learned how to manage and successfully conquer my postpartum anxiety battle!
Highlight #3: Traveling to Oregon + Family Meeting Brody
This highlight was an absolute BLAST! Brody and I fly down from Anchorage to Bend, Oregon where my family lives. Brody was an absolute dream on the plane ride down (and back) and was of course the center of attention. I nursed on take off and landing, which helped with the pressure and his ears~ he didn’t cry once! Oregon has such beautiful weather in the Fall so it was wonderful to enjoy the bright orange, yellow, and red leaves! Along with the beautiful scenery, we spent lots of time with family and Brody was able to meet his cousins for the first time! SOOOOO CUTE!!
Hard #3: Adjusting to living a part from family
This has been tricky now that we have Brody. Most of my family lives in Oregon and Brian’s entire family lives in Alaska. So although Brody is able to see one part of his family on the regular, he doesn’t get to see much of my family~my parents, sister, brother in law, cousins, etc. Facetime is a huge blessing, but still not the same! If you have family that lives far away… you know what I mean! :)
Highlight #4: Incredible growth at BMAB!
Lastly…. Wow, wow, wow! Where do I even start here?! 2018 has been monumental for the entire BMAB brand. I feel like our clarity, purpose, and movement is so crystal clear and it took the last 5 years to truly solidify where we are and where we’re going! I am SO excited for what God is doing in and through this brand… and this is just the beginning! So THANK YOU for being apart of this Motherhood Movement!! We love you so so much and can’t wait to unwrap the future with you, girl!! (Psst.. if ya haven’t yet, connect with me and other moms just like yourself inside our private FB group!)
Okay, Momma! Now it’s your turn! I’d love to hear a few highlights from your year! Let me know in the comments below or over on Instagram! Here’s to 2019!!
