How To Conquer Sweet Cravings with Healthy Substitutions
It's 9pm and yet again, the freezer is calling your name. Girl, it's not just calling, it's screaming at you to grab the carton of ice-cream! Ha! Has this happened to you? Please tell me I'm not the only one...
Regardless, I think it's safe to say that many of us battle the nighttime sweet tooth craving. Although a little sweet treat here and there doesn't hurt, if you continue to make it a habit (and a repetitive one at that), you'll most likely find yourself frustrated, upset, disappointed, and unhappy with the decision(s) you made and the way your body feels.
So, how do we break this cycle?
First, let's break down WHY we crave sweet foods, then we'll discuss some FUN and HEALTHY alternatives! Let's go!
What are a few reasons that women crave sweet foods?
Lack of substantial nourishment
Quenching for thirst (Yes... your body could actually be thirsty!)
You're on your period
Constant eating of processed + sweetened foods (Yes... your body will begin to crave this!)
How can we conquer sweet cravings with healthy substitutions?
Drink a big glass of water before eating
Ask yourself, "how will my body and mind feel in 30 minutes after eating this?"
Fill your body with nourishing "healthy" sweets + protein!
Apple + Almond Butter

Other healthy snacks (these are a few of my favorite!)
Enjoy fresh fruit
Call a friend, spend time with your husband and children (get your mind off food!)
Enjoy moderation (Have a bite, just not the whole bar)
Stress less----> assess this area in your life
Make sure you're getting enough sleep
Enjoy a warm cup of tea, hot lemon water, or an almond milk steamer
Have healthy snacks prepped and on tap!
Remember, cravings happen and it's okay to enjoy every once in a while, just don't make it a regular habit. You've got this, girl.
