Spinach- Obvious, right? If you're a regular here at #blossomingmommyandbaby, you know this beauty is a key ingredient for many of our smoothies, recipes, and of course, salads! Spinach is a POWERHOUSE veggie, packed full of essential vitamins, minerals, and the major player for healthy pregnancy.. folic acid. Grab a big bag at COSTCO + munch on it, daily. Sweet Potatoes- A staple in many of my client's kitchen's and weekly meal plans (umm... YUM!) and a MUST for your preggo journey! First, can we all just SWOON over the fact that these beauties can be made in a variety of ways.... all of which to fit your craving (i.e mashed, french fries, wedges, baked.. the list goes on!) Regardless, these beauties are loaded with vitamin A (especially beta-carotene!), C, B6, potassium, and MORE, making it a must for healthy pregnancy nutrition. Pair these with a healthy fry sauce and GIRL, you are well on your way!
Beans- Black, Kidney, Garbanzo, Lentils... The list goes on! Whether you are blending these beauties into your favorite pumpkin chili, salads, or fresh dishes, organic beans should be a staple in your weekly menu lineup! Packed full of protein, zinc, calcium, and fiber, beans not only provide the body with essential nutrients, but can also help with constipation!
Nuts- Walnuts, almonds, and cashews (just to name a few!) are an excellent source of good, healthy fats and omega-3's, essential for health and vitality during pregnancy and beyond. Throw together a homemade trail mix recipe, top your salads, or bake with them! Nuts can be used in a variety of dishes, so get creative + NUTTY! :-)
Avocado- This may just be our favorite in todays' lineup...anyone else?! Whether you are indulging in a big batch of homemade guacamole, avocado spread, salad toppers, smoothie sliders, or burger sides, avocados are an excellent source vitamin C, B6, folate, and more! Avocados aid in healthy development for baby and can even help mom with morning sickness! Go for it, gals! Just remember, nuts and avocados are BOTH high in fat (good fats), but should be consumed in moderation.
