Top 5 Foods for Mental Health Clarity: (Food + Mood Connection)
Did you know that food can actually play a role in your mental health, mental clarity, and your attitude? It's true! Food and Mood go hand in hand. In fact, a simple meal can alter the neurotransmitters released in your brain, which can impact the way you think, feel, and act.
Sugar, empty calories snacks, processed foods, caffeine, sodas, and other unhealthy foods can become dangerously addictive and extremely hindering to the mind-body-soul connection; and can also lead to depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.
So.. what can we do to combat this? EAT WITH A PURPOSE! If you (and you do!) have the power to change your mood, would you? Yes. I know you would and I know you will!
Below you'll find a list of my top 5 food recommendations (and benefits!) to help produce clarity, balance, and nourishment within the food + mental health connection. Grab a notebook and your pencil, sis. It's time to get busy.
No soda. This goes for diet and regular. Both are packed with artificial ingredients and other harmful substances that can lead to headaches, bloating, and digestive irritation.
Limit Caffeine. If you're enrolled in my Blossoming Mommy and Baby program, you know this rule. Excess caffeine can lead to increased anxiety, heart palpitations, and can lead to anxiety and/or panic attacks. Remember the mindfulness theme... "everything in moderation".
Increase your fruit and vegetable intake. Plain and simple. More greens + fruits for nourishment and vital nutrition.
Foods high in Vitamin D. Fresh Alaskan salmon, mushrooms, tuna, and oranges are all great options.. and don't forget good ol' sunshine here too, ladies!
Omega 3's + Good Fats. Seaweed, coconut oil, flaxseed, walnuts, and chia seeds to name a few!
There you have it, beauty. Are you getting hungry yet? I want you to start incorporating these foods (per your medical guidelines- i.e. allergies, etc). Having a clear mind is essential for healthy living and the foods you eat (or lack thereof) play a large role in that clarity.
Cleanse and GLOW babe.
