Cooking Hacks For Every Blossom To Be Fit Momma!

Here at Blossoming Mommy and Baby, you know we’re all about taking simple steps towards holistic living! We eat well, pray, get enough sleep (or try to anyways ;) ), workout, honor our husbands, keep Christ at the center, relax, cook, cozy up with a nice book, and yes… maybe even enjoy an occasional glass of merlot.. :) As Blossoming Mommy and Baby women, we’re also extremely savvy and cooking hacks are one of our signature “super powers”! Today we’re sharing a few tips and tricks that will help you and your family implement healthy meals, snacks, and drinks all though out the week.

  1. Meal Prep, Meal Prep, Meal Prep. Ladies, this simple tip is CRUCIAL. I know you’ve heard it a million times before, but truly, meal prep is essential for a healthy week and an effortless selection of healthy meals. Here are some basic ideas for you below:

  • Crockpot cook + shred chicken for salads, wraps, sandwiches, and casseroles

  • Pre package smoothies

  • Make mason jar salads

  • Make healthy bars

  • Plan school lunches, breakfasts, and dinners for the week

2. Wash, Cut, and Store Vegetables. Similar to meal prep, having fresh cut veggies on hand will allow you to use a variety of nutrient packed (and colorful!) vegetables in a variety of meals, including sauces, sides, entrees, omelets, smoothies, and soups.

3. Repurpose your meals. WE LOVE this tip for you! It’s budget friendly and TOTALLY gets your creative side thinking! Instead of throwing out leftovers, use the remains of certain dishes as a key player in another dish! For instance, if you made spaghetti one night and have left over marinara, use it to make a frozen lasagna dish, red dipping sauce for cauliflower mozzarella sticks, or as a spread for zucchini boat appetizers! There are many ways to “re-use” dishes, so look for creative meals, lunches, or appetizers instead of just tossing it out!

4. Use your health swaps and stick with em! 

  • Almond flour instead of white flour

  • Coconut oil instead of canola oil

  • Almond milk, coconut milk, or hemp milk instead of diary milk (*allergy precaution)

  • Greek yogurt instead of sour cream

  • Mashed avocado instead of mayonnaise

  • Zoodles instead of Noodles!

5. Rock your mason jar salads, smoothies, and prep! Mason jars are an AHHH-MAZING way to stay organized, on track, and creative for the week! With a little time spent prepping, you can have an entire week of smoothies, salads, and meals for the week!
