DIY (Chemical Free) Cinnamon-Spice Oatmeal Soap

How to Make DIY (Chemical Free) Cinnamon-Spice Oatmeal Soap (without lye)

Most people use a scale to measure out exact ingredients. Y'all, we don't do that here. Instead, here's what I want you do do:

  1. Safety first! Put plastic gloves on your hands as you create this soap. Also, you'll want to delegate a certain batch of: glass bowls, spatulas, cutting boards, pots, and spoons to your soap and lotion making endeavors. Please don't re-use them for food. I suggest going to your local thrift store and purchasing cheap/old utensils that you can store just for your DIY nights!

  2. With your 1 pound shea soap base, use an OLD KNIFE (that will not be used for food!) to slice through half of the base. (Store the other half an an air tight bag, out of reach of children).

  3. Next, use the same knife to cut your soap base into cubes, which will make the melting process fast and easy!

  4. Add: soap base and coconut oil to a boiling pot. Bring stove top to medium heat, and let all ingredients melt, without coming to a boil. (approx 10 minutes)

  5. Next, add: essential oils and let simmer on low for another 10 minutes.

  6. Lastly, stir in 1 cup of oats and remove mixture from heat.

  7. Pour into soap molds and let chill on counter for 12 hours.

Now, get creative!! We want to see a picture of your soap making progress! As you make this recipe, don't forget to snap a pic and check in with us by uploading your picture on social media and tagging @blossomingmommyandbaby :)
